Some of my work includes encaustic technique. Encaustic art dates before the Renaissance. The word encaustic is derived from the Greek work "enkaustikos" meaning to "burn in." Encaustic wax painting made its way to Rome after spreading across Greece and Egypt. In fact, it's still a durable material that will continue to span across the ages when cared for properly.
"Melting a bar of beeswax is like preparing an appetizer. There is something savory and satiating that's to follow. It is when the beeswax gets warm and sticky that other material can be added. Translucent liquid gold tinges collage fragments. Both organic and inorganic material yield to this resinous wax. My heart also yields during this transformative process."
